There was an interview on local Omaha radio this morning with Brian Woods. Most of it was about the Mammoths, but he mentioned two interesting things. He said Omaha and Miami were the league owned teams.
Also, when he was listing league cities, he talked about Memphis, while leaving out Portland. So it would seem that Portland may be gone.
For a transportation stand point it makes more sense. Now the question is do they really have Memphis owners?

There was an interview on local Omaha radio this morning with Brian Woods. Most of it was about the Mammoths, but he mentioned two interesting things. He said Omaha and Miami were the league owned teams. Also, when he was listing league cities, he talked about Memphis, while leaving out Portland. So it would seem that Portland may be gone. For a transportation stand point it makes more sense. Now the question is do they really have Memphis owners? 1-Let's review in the possible cities Woods has mentioned or claims will have teams: Austin, Omaha, Memphis, South Florida, Portland, Boston area, NYC Area. The AAA baseball stadiums seem to be a factor NOT for the venue, but for airfare/aircraft. Meaning, Woods is looking at if there could be a commercial flight AFTER MiLB Season to a destination. Many AAA teams still fly commercial, to locations like those noted above (Austin, Omaha, Memphis). Sadly, Woods may not have taken into consideration that airline capacity lowers in the Fall. It is a 40-man roster and a coaching/support staff of at least 12, so that is half a jet without excessive cargo. A commercial, charter aircraft is still a charter and regardless of location, he wants to play on Wednesday to keep those charter planes, already configured for NCAA teams, to be used on Tuesday and Thursday, so they can be in the NCAA team's airport on Friday. A commercial, charter aircraft is still a commercial, charter aircraft. The difference in fuel cost for even 2,000 miles round trip is negligible since the team will still have to get hotel rooms and feed them for the same amount of time. Plus, they will carry the same amount of cargo. 2-Why are there so like 5 FXFL subforums and 5 general discussion threads, all of which have little content?

And now the rumor mill says we're down to five teams, and Memphis is not one of them.
If we don't see some of those details in the next couple weeks, we can call another one done.
