I will try to respond to as many of the comments in this section as I can. Hopefully I don’t miss anything.
Damage if pushed back: In our opinion, not much. There may be some backlash and more piling on about doubt that the league will ever happen. If you look at the big picture, it really is only a handful of people paying attention at the moment. This includes those active on our social media, forums such as this, and a handful of those in the press. We have intentionally been laying low and are not wanting to attract attention until we are further along. Our objective is to not talk about what we are going to do but rather what we have accomplished.
Using an alternative name: We’ve got the name, we like it and, although our league and teams will be very different from the original USFL, we intend to establish a league that does the name proud.
Possible push back to 2016: Yes it would be frustrating. And it is the last thing we would want to do. However, it is more important to us to proceed according to our plan, which will allow a strong league be established that can endure for the long term. For us, long term viability and sufficient capitalization is of greater importance than rushing and launching a half-baked under-funded league.
Not enough money: That is correct. Our objective is to raise enough money to launch and operate the league for several years, knowing it will lose significant money during that period. We have a plan to raise this very large sum of money and we are working through it. It’s not anything that can be done overnight, but we refuse to launch an under-capitalized league.
Ownership changes / embezzling: That is all old news. We’ve set up a new USFL that does not carry the baggage of the past. We’re moving forward. We never have said anything about closing shop: utter nonsense. Banned from site: You’re like an old ex-girlfriend; dwelling in the past, exaggerating and distorting stuff, and not wanting to accept things are not like they were...it’s time to move on.
Dialogue/Negative People on Facebook: Yes, there are many on Facebook more negative and doubtful. However, they express their views, they ask questions AND they consider our responses. People are entitled to believe what they want, and we’re not asking anyone to believe a word we say. However, if they ask a hard question or make a negative comment, and we respond, all we ask is that they don’t keep asking the same question over and over and over and over again.
Cloak and Dagger: That is not our intent. We’re trying to be as open and forthright as possible. We have been very clear that our primary focus at this time is raising our capital, and that we are not going to allow ourselves to be distracted by discussions about things such as teams, cities, players, etc. until the financing process has been completed. Raising money is a very difficult task. We have ups and downs, but we are progressing and we are confident it will get done. While we are open about what we are doing, it is not necessarily practical or prudent to provide overly-detailed updates on our efforts. There is a lot of confidential discussion and negotiations with prospective investors; not information we or they want exposed on the internet.
Why these things fail: Many may not think about it. But we absolutely did, and every aspect of our business model was established to avoid the reasons for past failures, and to allow for the greatest chance of success.
“When there's something for you to know, you'll know it.” That is the nail on the head. We’re trying to keep everyone apprised of our efforts as we move along, but we do not intend to make announcements until we have everything lined up and ready to go. As stated previously, our objective is to talk about what we have accomplished rather than what we hope to accomplish.
Social Media / Other Leagues: We don’t want to spend our time talking about other leagues. Each has their own game plan, and are going about their efforts in the manner they feel is best. We have our approach and are sticking to it. As we have expressed in previous comments, if we had been in control of the USFL since day one we would not have launched any public forums such as Facebook or Twitter at this stage. However, we did inherit these forums when we took over, and we felt it only fair to those who are active on them to remain engaged in dialogue and to answer their questions. We certainly are not trying to build those audiences at this time; we will do so later when it is more appropriate.
