This is a link to a twitter feed from Donnie Woods, who says he is the General Manager of Omaha Operations for the the FXFL. twitter.com/CoachWoodsHe was previously the Offensive Line coach for Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs. And according to one of the tweets, he is also Brian Woods brother. I don't like the sound of this.

To be fair, Iowa Western had one of the best Junior College programs in the country right now.

Let's just take a few steps back.
Omaha is going to be a league owned team, so by hiring his brother, he somewhat "protects" his brother in terms of corporate liability.
Unless some football executive is currently unemployed or retired, just who did you think was going to take a position with the FXFL or any other new league with little guarantee of a future? And even some of them have a reason to he weary of not getting paid or not having insurance for their family since a COBRA plan may not apply if one takes a new job. There are dozens of former FBS head coaches/NFL head coaches and coordinators/NFL executives who are out of work and available, but they are not yet aligning because...
1-They and their agent(s) worry about getting shafted regarding pay, like the former UFL coaches. 2-They know there are better options and they are not that desperate. They may have many more checks from their former employer (or from theyr current media employer) to become the lonely girl at "Last Call on Friday Night".

I don't know about the liability issue, but Brian Woods is supposed to know sports law, so we will assume he knows more about it than me.

At some point, though, for credibility's sake, if you're going to be taken seriously, you are going to have to hire people with more impressive resumes than offensive line coach at a junior college in Iowa. (Even a good junior college program in Iowa.) Because if you can't, if you just appear to be a league comprised of the same "executives" and coaches and players who populate the knockoff indoor leagues and the fly-by-night outdoor leagues that play at middle schools all over the place where guys share helmets and practice with the only nine guys who can get off work, you're going to die from a lack of positive perception. If you're a football coach of reasonable ability, don't you probably already have a gig for the fall? And if you don't....what does that say about you? (Your example is spot-on, too, if someone has been fired with time remaining on a contract and is getting paid not to coach, they have nothing to gain and everything to lose.) That's the other thing about throwing this league together in 100 days or so - personnel at all levels. You can find 40 guys who can play football. But reasonable coaching staffs and front office people? No, can't be done in that short a time, and they can't be effective between the time they're hired and they have to play games.
